Are you a manager or a leader?

What constraints must an ambitious manager master to progress?

Whatever level you aspire to reach, it’s essential to develop true leadership qualities.

But what are they, and how can they be applied?

First, it’s important to understand the differences between managers and leaders:

Managers en Leaders

Each of these attitudes or ways of thinking is learned; they all have their usefulness. However, if you want to advance to executive or even presidential roles, it’s necessary to adopt new thinking habits.

Some of these qualities may already be well developed in you; in that case, they simply need refinement. Others, however, may not yet be priorities for you and are not part of your natural skill set.

No worries! There are many coaching methods—often based on NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming)—that help develop these aspects and reach the required level.

The techniques for developing these habits are based on what NLP calls “meta-programs.”

Meta-programs can be seen as filters or habitual patterns that influence how we perceive and interpret the reality around us. To date, 64 meta-programs have been identified.

Each lies between two extremes, representing completely opposite ways of seeing things.

For example, take the meta-program called “internal/external orientation.”

At one extreme, some people make decisions based solely on their own convictions, while at the other, others rely exclusively on external opinions.

For a balanced perception of reality, it’s best not to remain at either extreme, but somewhere in between.

In this example, an ideal decision can be made by considering both one’s own feelings and external viewpoints.

This may seem obvious, but in reality, it’s not always the case.

Many managers perceive reality from one extreme, leading to decisions marked by major adaptation difficulties.
