The Biggest Mistake in Goal Setting

Have you been taught to set goals without limits? To aim for ambitious, bold goals that scare you?

If so, ask yourself: how many of those goals have you actually achieved?

Chances are, if you’re like most people I’ve met, by the end of each year you’ve got a long list of unfulfilled goals. And maybe you think YOU are to blame — that it’s all your fault.

Well, I’m here to tell you something that may surprise you.
No, I’m not going to say whether it is or isn’t your fault.

What I will tell you is this: you were taught wrong. You were given an inferior method for creating the results you want.

The key to success does not lie in long-term goals that are overly ambitious, intimidating, and frightening.
The key lies in gaining momentum through shorter-term goals that ignite so much passion, energy, confidence, and courage within you that you’re literally catapulted toward achieving BIGGER goals that no longer scare you.

I use the word “catapulted” intentionally — because it means being lifted out of your current situation by a force that supports you. You’re not struggling. You’re not fighting.
Instead, you’re setting so many smaller, meaningful goals that you can’t help but think BIGGER. And because you’re thinking BIGGER, you don’t even realize you’re doing it — it just becomes natural.

The way you think becomes a natural byproduct of momentum. And with that momentum comes a growing record of success that reinforces your confidence and courage.

I invite you to explore this approach — unless, of course, you enjoy rewriting the same list of goals every year, hoping this time things will finally be different.

There’s a lot to learn from today’s reflection… but if you’d like to go deeper, we’ll soon be publishing more material on this topic. To make sure you don’t miss it, you can subscribe to the blog.

Will you answer that inner call to create positive change?

See it. Feel it. Become it.
